Elizabeth Glenn devoted her life to serving the Lord and teaching our young people. When I became the youth minister at Lane Avenue Baptist 23 years ago, Elizabeth had already been teaching the youth for several years. At that time, I thought that she would likely retire from her youth teaching duties and rejoin with her peers in a Sunday school class, shortly after my arrival. Boy, I was wrong! Elizabeth continued to teach well into her late 90’s! She rarely forgot a student’s birthday, and she spent countless hours praying for them and sending them encouraging hand-written notes. She did likewise for my family members and me. It was only fitting that Elizabeth would leave us to be worshipping in the presence of the Lord in all His glory on a Sunday morning! I can only imagine my other youth helper, the late Dave Leach, teasingly saying to Elizabeth, upon her arrival in heaven, “What took you so long?” I already miss Elizabeth, but I am comforted to know her spirit lives on in heaven, through the students she inspired and the through many lives she has touched over the years. Thank you Lord, for sharing your humble servant, Elizabeth, with us!
